The objective of the project is to determine the technology focussed applications which facilitate participation of the disabled in urban life and raise awareness among service providers, policy makers and R&D organizations for putting those into practice. Accordingly, the project aims at producing offers for technology focussed solutions to visual communication problems encountered by the visually impaired during their daily lives and educations. Inability of the visually impaired to see written notices and information signs or to follow what is written on the blackboard during classes are examples to such problems. Within the scope of the project, a research will be made to determine the technologies for converting video to audio addressing the basic problems encountered by the visually impaired during their daily lives and educations and a feasibility study will be conducted for potential products/technologies.
