Emirgan Six Dots Rehabilitation Center for the Blinds

"The blinds may not be seeing with their eyes but can examine, analyze and interpret the objects and events they encounter with the education, technical knowledge and skills they acquire."

Rehabilitation refers to fixing, amending and returning to its previous form. In other words, rehabilitation refers to all the activities for teaching the disabled individual the most suitable profession and for their integration into the society with medical, social and psychological activities for the physical disabilities that are by birth or arose because of disease or accident.

"The blind that was not educated cannot go out of his/her house, have self-esteem, find a job and participate in the social life."

The rehabilitation education aims to teach the blind individuals the techniques of living independently and moving without the help of others or with minimum help, to give them vocational education in line with their skills, make them productive through enabling them to have a profession and job and to assist them in the resolution of their psychological and social problems due to blindness.

In the Rehabilitation Center, the people that have visual impairment by birth or afterwards, who have no other disability, aged 14 to 35, are rehabilitated free of charge, either during the day or with boarding in 5.5 months.
Six Dots Rehabilitation Center for the Blinds is run according to the cooperation protocol signed between the Six Dots Foundation for the Blinds and the Social Services and Child Protection General Directorate in January 1994.

The center aims to teach the blind individuals that are older than the primary education level the techniques of living independently and moving without the help of others or with minimum help, to give them vocational education in line with their skills, make them productive through enabling them to have a profession and job and to assist them in the resolution of their psychological and social problems due to blindness.

The Rehabilitation Education at the EMIRGAN SIX DOTS REHABILITATION CENTER FOR THE BLINDS is categorized in two groups as A- Basic and B- Vocational. This education is run by the Social Workers, Special Education Specialists and Psychologists that work with the course participants divided into small groups.
